UNGKIT.COM - Victoria Falls, the largest waterfall in the world, is located on the Zambezi River, on the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe, and is locally known as Mosi-oa-Tunya.
One of the world's most spectacular waterfalls, it is approximately 1 mile (1.6 kilometers) wide and drops 128 meters (420 feet).
Scottish explorer David Livingstone visited the lake in 1855 and named it after Queen Victoria, while the local name is Mosi-oa-Tunya, meaning "thundering smoke."
The falls are part of two national parks, Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park in Zambia and Victoria Falls National Park in Zimbabwe, and are also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The falls are a major tourist attraction in both Zambia and Zimbabwe. (*)
