UNGKIT.COM – Tegal Mas Island is a popular marine tourism destination in Pesawaran Regency, often dubbed the "Maldives of Lampung" due to its overwater accommodations that resemble the scenery found in the Maldives.

This stunningly beautiful island is located on Tegal Island, within the Teluk Pandan District of Pesawaran Regency, Lampung Province, Sumatra, Indonesia.

The journey from Bandarlampung City to Tegal Mas Island—combining a road trip and a boat crossing—takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours in total. The route begins along Laksamana R.E. Martadinata Street in Telukbetung.

Along the way, visitors pass several popular beach locations, such as Duta Wisata Beach, Tirtayasa Beach, Villa Gardenia, Queen Artha Beach, and Mutun Beach. The journey continues to the Hanura Market area, where one turns left to enter the Sari Ringgung Beach area.

If traveling from Bakauheni Port in South Lampung Regency, the trip to Tegal Mas Island involves a drive of approximately 2 to 2.5 hours.

From Bakauheni Port, visitors travel by car or motorcycle to a departure point for Tegal Mas Island, such as Ketapang Port or Sari Ringgung Beach.

The distance is around 100 kilometers; the route involves taking the Bakauheni–Terbanggibesar Toll Road, exiting near Bandarlampung, and then continuing via Laksamana R.E. Martadinata Street and Way Ratai Street. The driving time is approximately 2 hours.

Upon arriving at Sari Ringgung Beach or a nearby pier, visitors complete the journey by renting a boat or speedboat provided by the management at the Tegal Mas Pier. The crossing itself is quick, taking only about 10 to 15 minutes.

Breathtaking natural scenery combined with easy access makes Tegal Mas Island a preferred choice for tourists. Tegal Mas Island boasts rich biodiversity, particularly in its underwater realm.

Visitors are treated to the beauty of diverse marine life, ranging from coral reefs and anemones to a variety of fish species inhabiting the waters.

With a bit of luck, visitors may also encounter exotic marine creatures, such as green sea turtles (Chelonia mydas) and blacktip reef sharks (Carcharhinus limbatus).

Tegal Mas Island offers comprehensive facilities, including water sports (canoeing or kayaking, banana boat rides, jet skiing, and more), accommodations, and even a floating mosque. (*)
